Amendment 1
The people have the freeadom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and the freedom of petition of the government. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on teh freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assembly, and petitioning for the government.
Amendment 2
The people have the right to have a gun. This allows the people of the U.S to have and legally own certain weapons.
Amendment 3
The Army/Military are not allowed to take over your house. The soldiers cannot barge in or live in a citizens home without permission, during war time and peace time.
Amendment 4
No unreasonable searches by anybody. Government officials cannot search citizens homes without a search warrant approved by a judge.
Amendment 5
You can not be incriminated by the government without proof. This amendment gives the accused the right to testify against themselves.
Amendment 6
You have the right to a speedy and fair trial. All accused people have the right to quick and speedy trial, it also requires that a legal counsel must be provided to the defendant. If the defendant cannot afford a lawyer, the government must provide one for them.
Amendment 7
The right to a trial by jury. It also means that once the care has been decided, that case may not be re-examined by another court.
Amendment 8
No cruel or unusual punishments. This prevents people from getting punished cruelly, or getting huge fines, or bail costs.
Amendment 9
People retain certain rights. It means that just beacuse the Constitution specifically grants the people certain rights does not mean that they have only those rights mentioned.
Amendment 10
Protects the people and states from an all powerful Federal Government. It means that powers not given the government in the constitution are given to the states.
Amendment 11
limits the power of federal courts. This amendment deals with each states sovereign immunity from being sued in federal court by someone from another state or country.
Amendment 12
The Electoral College has to use seperate ballots in voting for the President and Vice President. It also means the candidates with the greatest number of votes for each office will be elected if that number constitutes a majority of the total electors.
Amendment 13
slavery is against the law and congress can enforce it. The 13th amendment means that you cannot put anyone into slavery.
Amendment 14
Anybody born in the United States is a U.S. citizen. It protects the rights of citizenship in general by prohibiting a state from depriving a person of life, liberty, or property.
Amendment 15
All citizens are allowed to vote regardless of race. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color or of previous condition of servitude.
Amendment 16
congress may impose federal income tax. This amendment allows the government to tax one area that has more rich people and use the money to help the poor in another instead of it bringing used equally based on population.
Amendment 17
This amendment provides a method to allow governers and states to appoint a successor to someone that has died or resigned from their position. the senators will be elected by the people of state instead of appointed by the state legislature.
Amendment 18
Prohabition is illegal of sale and transrportation of alcoholic beverages. It outlawed the manufacture and sale of alcohol.
Amendment 19
It was the end of women's sufferage and helped give women the right to vote. After many years women are now allowed to vote.
Aendment 20
It specifies the term of President and Vice President. The President serves a 4 year term and the Vice President may serve throughout the entire term of the current President.
Amendment 21
Repealled the 18th Amendment. It allowed sale and consumption of alcohol, the ending of prohibition.
Amendment 22
The President can't serve more than two terms. The presidential candidates can only be elected twice into office, no more than 8 years.
Amendment 23
Residents of Washington D.C. is allowed to vote for President and Vice President. The right for the capital residents to vote for President.
Amendment 24
Abolished the poll tax. Guarantees that no person can be denied the right to vote due to an inability to pay a tax prior to voting.
Amendment 25
It outlines who becomes President if the President dies. In case of the removal of the President from office or death, the Vice President will take over as President.
Amendment 26
It lowers the voting age to 18 years old. Which allowed anyone whi is 18 years old to vote.

Congress can not emediatly raise their salaries. Congress must wait untill the next term of office.

Second, an amendment can be proposed if Congress calls for a national convention at the request of two-thirds of all of the state legislatures.
Ratification can occur in one of two ways. One method is for three-fourths of all state legislatures to ratify the amendment by a positive, or yes vote. The second method is through special conventions called in each state for the specific purpose of ratifying the proposed amendment.
